I Am

I am. Is a poem taken from the book The Rainbow of My Insatiable Desires by Osiris Valdés López

I am the breeze that stirs blue butterflies and suns without roofs or nets, the warm laughter that mocks the cold of white snow, the changing moon that wanes and grows.

I am the delirium that writes truths inspired by carnations, the secret that keeps silent the hells of heavens and skins, the mystery of a thousand silences of inert lovers.

I am the cravings of my insatiable body, the madness of my whims, the shade of color and the fire that warms the icy
gaze.

I am Egypt, desert, Caribbean, and roots; the one who in her days of melancholy writes poetry, yearning for the happiness she once felt, and on lonely nights, releases her reality by deceiving some truth; the one who, faced with sure certainties, drowns the disillusionment.

When it is too late, I only think about love, in the safe place of love, if I am in some corner among memories, images, disoriented, I surely need to feel desired.

I am the rumba of my waist, the unplanned mission of making desire endure, then I silently fall in love with my reflection, which is the mirror of my soul, I am the spell of seduction, the honey in the nectar of the flower.

I am the one who offers herself to the surrender of my flesh, when my madness burns in the eagerness to satiate; then flashes of stars arise in the darkness.

I am my doubt and my answer.
